What optics do i need?

Since i spend most of my time hunting thick forest and swamp i do not have a need for large optics.

Now that i am coming out west every year, i need to invest in some optics.

I have been looking in the $700 range.
After reading many post, i am wondering if i should buy both a spotting scope and binos?

Depends what kind of country you are hunting inn....If your in big canyons you should get both...I was hunting rolling hills with alot of oak brush, and I make out great with just binos..that was southern CO...went to Montana and used nothing but the spotter out of the truck until we found what we wanted..that was spotting out to 2 to 3 miles.....then switched back to binos for the short 600 yard stuff, during the stalk. I would save a few hundred and buy the vortex stuff and be in business...they are not the best from what I hear...but dam close for the money..
