What arrows?

I decided to get back into archery after hanging my bow up 10 years ago. Since all my equipment was outdated I decided to replace everything. I got a new reflex excursion in 60 to 70 pound. I know this is a low end bow but it should fit my needs. What do you guys suggest for arrows? There are way too many too choose from but it sounds like some type of carbon arrow is the way to go. Then there are vanes, feathers to choose from. I will be hunting deer and elk when I dont draw muzzleloading tags in CO. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Just about any of the carbon arrows out there will fit the bill. They are usually priced according to straightness ( the more $ the more consistently straight) You should check to make sure the spine will handle a 70 lb bow, the proshop or operator can help you with that, but as far as the brand is considered, decide how much money you want to spend on a dozen and they will be comparable between the different companies.

I am going to assume you are somewhere near a 29" draw length since that is most common. That would put you into something like Easton axis 340 or 400 size or pse radial x weave 300 arrows. Gold tip XT hunter 55/75 arrows would be another good choice. I would look at something with .003" straightness and no more than +/- 1 grain per dozen on weight. You should be able to pick up arrows with vanes for somewhere between $70-$90 per dozen.

Another option for a hunting arrow are the Easton Full Metal Jacket's. They are aluminum outside, carbon inside and are super durable. They're smaller diameter, weight a bit more and tend to shoot a bit more smoothly out of a new super fast bow like the Reflex. They also pull out of 3D targets much easier than carbon arrows if you ever plan to get into that.

Cheers,
Pete

I shoot Easton Axis 340's out of my 70lb bow. My next choice would be Carbon Express Maxima's, then maybe GoldTip.
Don't put too much emphasis on straightness factors and tolerances, the majority of archers cannot tell this from one arrow to the next. The arrows are usually much better than the archer.
Good luck.

Any of the better arrows you will be fine with. I have only shot Beeman, Carbon Express and Gold Tip. No major difference in how they shot to pick one over the other. Currently shooting gold tip Hunter XT 75/95 out of a 64# bow. This year several of us are going to try a top of the line super expensive arrow to see if there is actually any difference.
Find a shaft weight to match your desire for total arrow weight.
Keep your FOC in the recommended range.
Paper Tune your set up.
AND SHOOT HELICAL FLETCHING!!!!!!

I definately second this notion. I just bought a new set of these a couple weeks ago. I am shooting 70# and went with the 300's. I sighted in again today and my pin gap got considerably smaller. Pricey arrows but very good quality.

I recently went from Blackhawk Vapor Pro Series to Gold Tip Pro Hunters. I was sceptical at first thinking that the improved tolerances wouldn't really make that much difference. While not huge, the difference is certainly noticable. My groups shrunk considerably. My only complaint now is that I keep busting up those expensive sticks.

I would like to say thanks to everyone that responded for all your help. Cant wait till I get the archery range set up in my basement with all my new gear.
