Just bought a new Switch Back XT. Shooting at 65 lbs 65%let off.
Draw length 29". I am shooting gold tip carbon 7595 at 30".
The target tips are shooting bullet holes through papper but I am not getting good arrow flight with broad heads. Shooting 100 grain tips on field and broad heads( Thunder Heads ).I need 400 grains to hunt Idaho and this arrow is now at 409.

Why can't I get them to fly? is the arrow to stiff? Do I need to go to a lighter arrow with a 125 grain head? I know there are a lot of experts out there and looking for one that is shooting the same setup with good results on broad head flight.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Have 3 of you arrows changed to the Blazer vain they are supposed to give your arrow better stability. You also could try a small profile head like Slick Tricks or Wac-ems.

Thanks Elk Horn. I do have blazer vains now and will try as you suggest. Thanks for the info.

What do you mean you can't get your arrows to fly? Do they group well, or are they scattered all over? Are they fish tailing? Make sure your form is good.
GoldTips are good arrows, but you might be slightly over spined, check a chart. Thunderheads are also good b-heads, but I second what elk horn had to say, try some Slick Tricks. They are the best flying b-head I have found, but I haven't shot them all either!
Sorry if I haven't been much help, but a little more info from you is needed. :)

Cujo, I suffered for the last three years with the same problem. I found the answer. I did alot of asking question's at archerytalk.com it;s the best bow site I've found yet. Anyway I shot, Muzzys, Interlok, Thunderheads. I could never get them to group well or like feild points. I tried new arrows new vanes new release new form( bad idea) etc. So I started looking for a broadhead that would shoot like feild points. I bought some Magnus stingers screwed them on and BINGO first six shots wrecked 3 arrows!!!! They didn't come with o-rings so I just screwed them on. I deceided to see if I used o-rings (like I always do) and line the blades up either verticaly or horizonaly. Groups went to hell. Got some info at archery talk and found a guy who said to take the o-rings back off. He has found that when he puts his arrows on the spinner that the o-rings cause a wobble. I went back out side with no o-rings and I now have to shoot at a different spot on my target every time or I'll destroy every arrow I have. And this is happening at 40 yds. So try getting rid of the 0-rings and if you can the UBARS and shoot again. If that dosen't work try some Magnus stinger's!!!! I shoot the 2 blade COC and they shoot better than my feild points. And are sharp as hell and stay sharp a long time. Also I'd go to a 125 gr. broad head. Try shooting 100 and 125 gr. feild points. You'll find the difference in elevation at 40 yds. is maybe a 1/2" and that will make your arrow weight more. And the heavyier broad head will penetrate better. I shoot a 65# draw weight and 340 Black Max Arrows from Beman. If I go to a 150gr stinger I'll be pushing an arrow weight of somewhere around 475 to 499!!! With a 29inch arrow before nocks and inserts. My KE will be pushing 60!!!! If the 150gr. stingers don't drop off the map I'll use them. For elk with a lighter draw weight I'd go COC broadheads anyday!! Good luck it worked for me!! CD
