So a friend ask that I post this question, and I thought it would be good conversation.

What are your top 10 favorite hunting brands?

Recently in the news there has been a lot of talk about the value of brands and a top Wall Street investment firm just launched their 15th annual, ?Worlds Most valuable Brands?.

This list is based on a number of factors, how recognizable the company?s logo is, How innovative the company and the value of that company to it's particular industry. It used to always be companies such as GM, Coca Cola, Mc Donald?s and so forth. However this year Apple took first place based on its overwhelmingly high level of innovation.

So, what are the most valuable brands in our (hunting) industry, which ones have logos which have become icons along with what brands bring consistent innovation to the table.

What do you think? Even if you can't name 10, what brands standout to you in the hunting industry?

I don't know about favorites, but Realtree and Fieldlogic have to be 2 of the largest now. They both have an excellent grasp on marketing.

Winchester (not so much lately)
Cabelas
Realtree
Danner
Easton
Matthews
Buck (knives)

As far as logos- I don't think anything stands alone as well as the Browning Deer image:

You see it, and it screams outdoors...

"Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" 2 Ne. 28: 24

Cabelas has to be at the top.
Realtree has to be close to the top.
Browning is up there too with clothing, firearms and logo.
Primos is up there with calls, clothing, blinds, ect.
Hunter Specialties isnt as high as the other 3 but they might be in the top 10.
Remington would be up there.
Sitka hasnt been around as long but they have taken off pretty fast and theyre product and logo is very distinct.
Maybe some of the optics brands such as leupold, nikon, and bushnell as far as name brands but they only represent one aspect of the hunting industry.

I am sorry but Browning has some of the cheapest (not price) items out there. I have never had good luck with the flashlights, boots, or clothes. They do make awesome firearms!!!

Come on Riverlover, don't be bitter because your credit card hasn't been hit yet for a tag. :)

Has anyone said Mosscrack yet?

PSE
LEUPOLD
REMINGTON
BARNES
NOSLER
EBERLESTOCK
NIKON
GARMIN
GLOCK
GERBER

Can't believe nobody has said Under Armour yet. Within the hunting industry and their other markets they have made a big leap towards the top.

I believe you can buy just as "quality" of an item for cheaper but eveyone recognizes the UA symbol when they see it, hunters or not.

GMC
Browning
Thompson Center
Matthews
Leica (glass)
Badlands
MSR (back packing equip.)
Sitka
Danner
Kershaw (knives)

AND THAT'S REAL ER THAN MY GRANDMA'S KNOWLEDGE!!!!!!!!!

Bowhunter since 1999.

TOP TEN BRANDS for Bowhunter
These brand have all influenced the products I use. I can attribute that to the marketing I have found from Books, Articles, Web sites, DVD's and TV Advertising.

I am a mix of the REDBULL era and trial & error experience. Red Bull meaning, I am lead to believe that if the best of the best are seen with the product and sponsored, then the product is the best to use, or they wouldn't be using it, since they are one of the best in the industry.

Many of these brands found themselves into my closet or gear list.

1. Bow- Hoyt
2. Arrows- Easton
3. Broadhead - Epek
4. Sight- SpotHogg
5. Optics- Nikon
6. Clothing- Sitka
7. Rangefinder- Leupold
8. Pack- Badlands
9. Calls- Primos
10. Web site for hunting- Monstermuleys.com...can you tell?

One thing all of these have in common is a good Marketing Plan and money to implement that plan. There are many other non-household names that perform just as well for a fraction of the cost...

Rifle- Browning
Knife- Buck
Shotgun- Remington
Camo- Kings
Beer- Coors
Optic- Leupold
Camp accessories- Camp Chef

Now for me stealing the post, take out the favorite part and just go with brands:

Store- Cabelas
Camo- Realtree
Rifle- Thompson Center
Knife- Gerber
Shotgun- Benneli
Beer- Budweiser
Optic- Swarovski
Camp accessories- Coleman
Leatherman
Yamaha

Not that any of the above I hate, or dislike, but it is interesting if you take out the favorite part and go with brands many are different than those that are our favorites. Some are because of sponsorship, some marketing, but with me I also go with local companys in my favorites, Kings- Utah company, don't know if there stuff is better than Mossy Oak or Realtree, but they get my support because they are local and make things for western hunters, similar with camp chef and Browning for me.

Interesting. The actual responses here show that you can sell an inferior, or so so product, if you have a viable marketing strategy and sound financial backing.

After many years in the sporting goods business, it is no surprise to me.

Under Armor is the most glaring example on here. There are AT LEAST 6 companies producing the same clothing, with the same materials, at 1/3 the retail cost. I'm not saying they make bad stuff, it's just overpriced.

SOG knives are another. They got law enforcement guys to use their stuff and then tripled their price for a seriously inferior product.

The flip side, is a company like Havalon Knives. They have very little advertising, for a product that has no equal competition on the planet.

You DON'T always get what you pay for.

The thing about marketing is, "EGO"....a large group of consumers absolutely have to have the "next best thing".....most of the time, it ain't.

To me, in todays world, I buy and support the companies that have a "NO BS" customer service/warranty program.

I am amazed at some that suck and then again some that shine.

Remington may quite possibly be the worst in the industry......tossin' that in, since I have had SO many bad experiences thru the store with them.

Garmin also sucks.

You HAVE to do some research on high ticket items.

It is a good practice to buy guns, optics, electronics, etc from stores like Cabelas'....then when you have a problem, they will have more leverage with manufacturers than what you get on your own, or from a small outlet.

LAST EDITED ON May-24-11 AT 10:40PM (MST)[p]Figured I make a list before reading ya'lls. Mostly similar, few differences. I agree with nick, some make junk but name brand recognition was the question. Had to list a few extra, these are not listed in any special order. Most recognized logo's, I think would be: ford, chev, browning, google, cabelas.
