November 1-10th where are the deer? I know depends on winter/snowfall but as I am planning a scouting trip out there this summer (if we draw) I want to make the most of my time. Should I be looking 7000ft or more 9500-10k. Coming from Iowa! Any insight would be great.

My experience is that most deer will be on their way to the winter range or on the winter range by the first on November. They certainly won't still be at 10k. I'm not sure what kind of scouting you want to do in Nov. If you mostly want to look at deer, I can give you some places to go, but they won't be there when you come back to hunt in Sept. or Oct.

Sorry, I will try to clarify. I was hoping to come scout in mid July for a Nov 1 hunt. I want to learn roads, (or lack there off would be better) trails and places to park etc.

LAST EDITED ON May-26-17 AT 04:04PM (MST)[p]Definitely check out the quakie/pine to sage interface. If the weather is "normal" there will likely still be a bunch of deer in their hidey holes in the transition zone.

Region F. With my dad and 2 brothers. My dad is in great shape but he is 67 and we want to get him on some deer.

Your "scouting" trip will be useless in July to find deer where you are planning on hunting them in November. Yes there will be many deer in the 9000' range to 10,000' range but guessing where those deer are going to end up in the winter is a crapshoot at best. Many deer travel more then 50 miles to winter. Now on the other hand a trip out to figure out the lay of the land, roads, trails, and such would be a great idea!

Thanks for the advice. I am excited to see the land, access points, etc. Maybe get some fishing in too while there in July.
