I am in need of any suggestions on finding the match to this shed in the next couple of pictures. I found it at 8:15 in the morning and spent most of the day looking for it and used all of the methods that I know and have used in the past. Just to let you know I have been shed hunting in this area for the last 5 years and it is 3-1/2 miles into this ridge the bulls winter on and have never seen another person or even a boot print from another person so I am very confident that know one else has picked it up. I tried the circles out to 250yards and even found him and his buddies hanging out on the next ridge (Picture below). As you can see from the following pictures that I have found most of the sheds from this group of bulls, but can't find the match to the big one. I would appreciate any suggestions on maybe what to do and how far he could of carried the match. The left side weighed in at 16.8 pounds and just assumed that the right would be close by?Thanks for the help

If you are positive that you are the only one in the area....it has to be there somewhere! What state?
Thanks for the pics!

Eastern Oregon. I am sure I am the only one because I have made 5 trips in this year already and no tracks in the snow.

Looks like he was in the open feeding mabey when he lost the side you found. Look at where they bed and in the thick places. I agree its there somewhere, just not in plain sight. Kep at it you'll find it and we want the pics when you do.

What you need is a shed hunting partner, then I'm sure you'd find it. I'm available next week!!!

tell me how to get there and I will help you find the other side.JK . It 's around there someplace and I hope you find it. Looks like a real nice set.

I have a couple questions...(no need to answer to us).. Is there a chance people hunt that area?...by that i mean regular season...the next thing I would ask is.. have you found multible years from that bull? and what were his shedding patterns from previous years?. I have found that if a bull consistantly dumps both sides at the same time, the other side would be close...however, I have watched big (370) bulls pack a single for several days. I would expand my search to 1/2 a mile. I would also glass constantly.. if that shed were out in the open and white and you missed it, then there is a potential for the other side to be in the open also.

here is a cenario for you.. what if that bull rubbed the first side off getting out of bed...and while feeding lost the side you have?.. I would be pounding the bedding areas also.. good luck.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-15-05 AT 07:35PM (MST)[p]Being a white shed means that it's been a year since it hit the ground...expand your circle but I'd about bet someone else scooped it up?

PS...luv that flat open ground!

Thanks for all of the replies...I am going to hit it again tomorrow and see what I come up with. I have the 2002, and 2003 sets from him and will get a couple pictures of them on here. Hope to have good news this coming week. Thanks again

If its public land I bet some one elese found it all ready. I live in Oregon and hunt 3+ miles from the nearest road and still run into other hunters while bow hunting. seems like the bedding area would be a good bet.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-05 AT 12:07PM (MST)[p]16.8 lbs!!! and white!! Holy Crap!!
You had better not quit looking until you find the other side..
That thing must be a pig.
I have to agree that since it is a white shed, that maybe somebody else picked it up over the year. I think if it was there it would be fairly close as that would suck having 16+ lbs of bone tipping your head!!
Good luck, and post some more photos of that thing!
Thanks for sharing!!

A bad day hunting is better than a Good Day at Work!!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-05 AT 04:50PM (MST)[p]It could of been picked up during a hunting season( archery or rifle) if there are hunter's who hunt that ridge, if not I would be hunting the beding areas and the trail to and from them.

No luck this last trip, but will try again...Starting to think it has fallen into the wrong hands...Not mine...Here is a couple of pictures of his sheds from 2002 and 2003...Just to crear the air the shed is 13.8lbs not 16.8...
