Weaver El Paso scopes

Anyone ever used one of the old El Paso Steel 1X scopes. Just wondering how they would compare to the newer Vortex.

I bought one from a member here. Have not put it through the paces yet. Overall impressed with the glass, reticle, and stout construction. Will have no issues at last light and out to reasonable distances.

Used to have a vortex 1x..took it off pretty quickly in favor of open sights. Terrible reticle, terrible in low light, bad glass…and sucker would not hold zero with a fairly mild load. I did not trust em.

Biggest thing for me is whether or not it holds zero..based on reputation I think it will be OK but time will tell. Glad I went this direction over the vortex.

Thats great feedback. Really appreciate it. Let us know how it holds up to recoil. I actually was at a friends house and located an old Sightron 1X I gave him a few years ago.

Tracker, what are your thoughts on the Sightron in terms of holding zero, glass, low light, thickness of crosshair. A friend offered one to me for a muzzy hunt. Thanks

I really only used it once 8 years ago when I drew a UT Muzzy tag on the Fishlake. It worked great and I was able to hit well it out to 200 which was my self imposed limit. Glass is very clear and reticle good. It seems a little thick but not to thick to be a problem. As soon as I settle on a load I will reinstall it and do some range work
