First time drawing the muzzleloader tag in this unit. Just wondering what to expect as far as the bugle goes. Sounds like it might be bugled out by the time the archery, rifle, then muzzys get there. Any other tips/advice, stories etc. would be great. Thanks.

Had that tag last year fun hunt. They did seem to be a bit call shy but not impossible to call. For me bugles worked to locate them and then sneek in, but it seemed if you got to close and tried bugles they would shut up and dive for the bottoms. It's big country with lots of glassing opportunity, if I was to hunt it again that's the way I would go. Good luck and keep us posted.

Last year up there the bulls were still going crazy right at the very end of the rifle season. You should do just fine with a front-stuffer!
Use the bugle to locate only and cow call them in or, better yet, do what WS said to do; locate and sneak in and kill one.

Toward the end of the rifle season we saw darn few hunters and the bulls were still red hot. The muzzleloader season might be the best season?????

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Sounds like it will be a fun hunt. Does anyone know where to get a good topo map of this area? wondering if there is a company that makes them like flatline maps in arizona.

i had the muzzy tag two years ago. my hunt was a great experiance i eventually tagged out on a descent 320 bull. the cons to it was that it was an extremely hot the year i went. and the elk calling completely shut off by 8am and very few calls in the extremely late evening. there where also muzzy deer hunters everywhere up there. pm me if you have any questions
