Just back form a ML cow elk hunt for the West-Central Wasatch (was successful). The weather was a bit of a challenge with variable road conditions (frozen in the morning, greasy mud in the afternoon, so be careful. There are elk to be had, they are still in small family groups of 4-12, widely scattered and away from roads, so get off the road and do some hiking. I would concentrate on the elevation band with mixed habitats (oak brush, aspen, conifers). For the most part they seem to be sticking to the more brushy areas with trees near by. Yesterday, we were starting to see more tracks crossing roads, so these past couple storms have them on the move a bit more. Good luck all.
