How long do you guys wait till you start walking to look for sheds? I want to get out there in time, but I don't want to go too early and scare or hurt the deer, and I don't want to be too late and get beat to the spots? I am just wondering how soon you guys start beating the brush?

if you don't want to push the deer, wait untill the snow melts, if you want to beat people to your spots start now. I don't start looking untill the snow comes off and some of the mud drys up. If your in an area that gets hit hard, you'll be one of the few with the animals welfare in mind.

Down here in southeastern utah me and my Uncle wait until the middle or the end of march when the snow is melted and most of the mud drys up.
But I went to look in our spot. It was really muddy. I saw lots of big tracks through out the area. but no fresh antlers yet. I did fing 2 antlers. One is a big 4 point I found the other side last spring. I will try to post the pictures. Good luck with horn hunting. As for me I am really looking forward to march.

It depends on the conditions for me.....if the winter is mild I start by glassing to get an idea of whats where. If the snow is pretty much off I start as early as possible? If the winter is hard and there's quite abit of snow and the animals are having a tuff time of it I back off. Basically...if I can get around easy I know the animals can too and I won't stress em too much and vice versa. If there is some pressure from competition I normally go to another area......

I'm going out on my first look on saturday. I think its too early to find anything fresh, but I need to get out and these deer don't even know what winter is. It was cold last week, in the 20's and we got about two inches of snow but this week its been in the 50's to 70's for temp and there is probably new greens coming up. If winter was a concern I'd give the deer more time, but they don't get much stress where I'm going.
