Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 or 50?

Looking to get a new rifle scope and have decided on the Vortex Viper HS 4-16 (I hunt some rough country and like not having the exposed turrets). My question is: should I go with the 44 or 50 mm objective? Does the 50 gather that much more light? The 50 is also about 50 bucks more and will require the high rings instead of the medium rings for the 44. Rings aren't a huge deal since I am buying new ones either way (30mm tube, old scope was a 1 inch tube). I am just curious if the light gathering is worth the scope sitting a hair higher on the gun? Any advise would be much appreciated on this.

Stay with the 44mm, its not worth having to mount the scope higher.
6mm more of objective lens is not going to make much difference.

44mm scopes are the ultimate all aspects considered IMO
