Vortex Range Finder vs Leupold Scope Question

Hey guys,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me out with an Optics question.

I will be rifle hunting this year with my Leupold Scope (VX-3L 4.5-14x50mm CDS). I have had great success with this scope and the custom dial /turret system in the past. However, I recently purchased a new Vortex Ranger 1000 range finder. This range finder has a angle compensator option or a line of sight option.

If I am compensating for bullet drop using the CDS system via the scope, which option do I use on the range finder? Does it matter?

Thanks and I look forward to your input.

The angle comp mode is for the angle of the shot you are taking. The more of the the angle the less the range you turn on your turret.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-30-14 AT 02:40PM (MST)[p]All the angle comp does is give you the readout in corrected yards. You use that yardage number just like the number you would get on flat ground.

Range, dial, shoot.

The Vortex has a distance limit when in angle comp mode, as do all other angle comp rangefinders.
