Videographer question

If someone were to draw a very limited tag would there be a way to have a camera man or crew come video the hunt for a hunting show or DVD? I would think that a Montana moose, goat or sheep hunt could be worth watching.

You can hire someone for sure. Going rate on the low end is $150 per day and on the higher end $300 per day plus expenses.

I am guessing if the circumstances were right, there are many TV hunting shows/video producers that would break away a camera crew for a special hunt like that if you were willing to give them exclusive rights to air the footage. But then you would first have to have the tag, and then be willing to deal with a camera crew possibly messing up a stalk, etc! JMO

It may be too late already unless they already have permits from USFS and BLM to film in that unit. Those have to be applied for and paid up front and usually that process is started the year prior to the hunt. A video hunt is fun and it sure is a nice memory to relive years down the road. Good luck.

It's always an adventure!!!

If your hunt will air on a TV show or if it will be use for any commercial purposes--yours or the cameraman. You have to have a filming permit from the USFS/BLM unless you are on private land. So in reality you are looking at 300.00-400.00/day minimum. It is also likely you might have to insurance or your cameraman.

IMO--you are better off finding one of the many out fitters our there who also are likely to have both insurance, a filming permit and work through them.

If this is something for your own personal use, you don't have to have a permit. IMO, 150.00/day plus expenses is pretty cheap for someone who really knows what they are doing.
