Vernon going downhill

I have heard some stories about Vernon going downhill and they were shutting it down? I just want to know about it because two years ago my father drew out on that tag and we saw 41 bucks opening morning and half of those were good quality deer. Thanks

I strongly believe it's going downhill! But there are still some awesome bucks out there. Last year we ran into a heavy 5X7 out in the cedars. The problem is that they give out a ton of rifle permits, and 90% of those hunters hunt the same area. Vernon is huge, but most of it never gets hunted. I haven't heard about them shutting it down though. I drew an archery tag out there the year it opened after being closed for three years. We seen a lot of huge deer. Maybe closing it would help!?
