Utah Road Kill

I just got out of the Marine Corp on Monday and was driving back home to Nebraska via I-15 through Utah and I have NEVER seen so much road kill in my life. I have driven that route numerous times and have never seen something like that ever. I saw over 30 deer, 1 elk, and about 20 or so "piles" that were not recognizable.

Is it the time of year or the lack of antlerless permits? Did not see one buck. Or is it just the stupidity of does?
