Utah Preference Points

As a non-resident who has never hunted Utah before, I would like to start collecting preference points. How do I do this? Do I go online and just apply for a tag after Feb 1st or what?

Depends on if you want a limited entry unit or general season, and if limited entry how soon you wanna hunt. If general season just apply for a tag after the 1st and before march first and you'll more than likely get a tag. If you want to just collect points for limited entry you can just apply for the point itself and collect till your maxed out. I would just apply for the tag instead of the point because it doesn't cost any extra unless you draw a tag. Could just get lucky. Also you have to buy a license to apply... Hope this helps.

You are not going to get a preference point for bulls, limited entry bucks, and once in lifetime permits. You can get a bonus point for these. Preference point only applies to general deer.
