Utah points system - draw question

I have a question about the current Utah draw system and putting in together for a LE hunt with another individual and how the odds would work.

The questions or scenario is, I have 6 Elk points and my brother has either 12 or 13. Would it hurt his chances of drawing if we were to put in together for a LE Elk hunt? We would love to draw together one of these years, but I don't want to decrease his odds of drawing sooner either by puting in together.

Any advice or expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, TS

They take the average of your two points than round down if it ends up as a 1/2 point. So if you have 6 pts and brother has 13 than the average is 9.5 pts which than is rounded down to 9 in the draw. So basically yes it would hurt your brother and greatly benefit you. It may cost your brother some years but it would most likely be the only way you guy's would draw together.
