Utah Archery

Have 10 points non-resident and am researching archery elk. Looking for open terrain for spot and stalk hunting. I have looked at bookcliffs bitttercreek and pahvant so far. Any suggestions on units that are good for spot and stalk?

The Bitter creek is a GREAT spot-n-stalk unit ...
10 NR points could still be 1-2 years out to draw though ..

Two units you could most likley draw this year are SW Desert
and/or Fishlake......A couple pretty good units there!

pahvant is a great unit, but a very tough archery hunt.. your still 6 years away to draw that with a bow though(unless you get lucky).

There are a ton of great archery units though. Fish lake is a great one. Another tough one but doable with those points is mt dutton, there are great bulls every year on that mtn as well.

Spot and stalk archery elk is hard during the Utah season because it's usually hot and the elk are timbered up during most of the day. Sitting wallows or water sources gives you a better chance of finding a good bull, but that's pretty boring hunting for many. The bulls will usually start sounding off in the rut for the last week and that is when most hunters really get the blood rush and find success.
Not sure any unit is better than another for Spot and Stalk.

Thanks guys. Do a lot of tree stand hunting for blacktails so sitting in a blind or tree stand wouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the suggestions.
