how does it work in these checkerboard type areas? Looks like unit 94 is almost all checkerboard, the bottom half of 96 is checkerboard, and many of the areas in Wyoming are this way. Can you hunt them or not?
The checkerboard shows the BLM [ usually in orange]and private land - they alternate sections. You can hunt the BLM but not the private without permission. The trick becomes knowing whether or not you are on BLM or private. Even with a GPS it can be challenging. There are also many access issues. There are some ranchers that try to intimidate hunters in these checkerboard areas and force them to leave even though they may be on BLM land. So, either make dam sure you're on BLM or stop at the nearest ranch and try to get permission. Chip
Good advice Chip! I've not had a problem but i've run across a few guys that were told they were tresspassing on private land when in fact they were on BLM. It's tuff to locate the boundries even with a GPS.
