Sunny every day for the last 10 days. Best weather
of the year. Forecast says the same for next 5 days.
Last mz hunter shot Wed so things are back to normal.
Mz ends tomorrow. Things have changed greatly last few
days. Bugling is now non stop.5000-10000 bugles per
day now. Some bulls bugling every hour of the day.
Last night at camp several bulls bugled every minute
of the night. Needed ear plugs to sleep. Fights are
now happening and real aggression among the bulls.
Some younger bulls trying to hop cows but cows
pull away. No lip curling or much sniffing so cows
in heat a few days away. Feels good to get away from
so much bugling. My ears really are ringing. These
pics are from this am. Will post more tomorrow.

I love the pictures. I really like the back scratcher that one bull has. Dont see that too often. I think its safe to say that you filled the void that this site had after Littlefoot stopped posting.

Thanks for yet another very impressive set of photographs. Plus the narrative. I simple can not imagine what you are experiencing.

Before you die.....Take time to live

Rocketman is living the dream. My hunting partner and I thought we were living the dream when we finally drew Unit 76 Archery Elk tags. After hiking 1000 vertical feet we found ourselves looking at all the elk in Rocketman's post above. As we moved into position below the big bulls, we saw Rocketman and his dog move between us and the elk. The elk spooked and moved out of the basin. Very frustrating. So, I suggest that if you are lucky enough to draw a Unit 76 tag, stay out of Pole Creek and neighboring basins, unless you want to compete with guy, camera, and dog on your hunt. And thanks to the Nevada guys for the info on the bull. We didn't get on him, but going back to try one more time.

Good luck elkcraz44. I just got back and they weren't going that crazy like I was expecting. Like most said it was really hard finding bulls over 300". Over all a great experience and I hope you make it happen.

you know every year i hear the same old stories from hunters, the elk winded us or some other guy spooked the elk ect ect. the list goes on and on, i grew up hunting in 76 its a HARD unit to hunt you have to be in excellent shape if you plan on getting to where the elk are even at, but if you truley want that monster bull you will do whatever it takes to get him. just this last season i know of 4 monster bulls coming out of pole creek the hunters had no promblems with guy, camera, and dog, they hunted there hearts out, but ended up with monster bulls to show for it. i think if you draw a 76 tag go to where the elk are at, pole creek would be in the top 3 on my list for sure!! just look at rocketmans photos of the bulls in there, and maybe you should think about hunting 76 before you put in for the tag... can you handel walking a 1000 verticle feet just to have the elk spook? something to think about. good job rocketman and rocket dog you guys have given soooo many people enjoyment from your photos keep living your dream we will miss your posts.

Sorry unit 76 is such a small place that one guy and 1 dog could ruin your hunt. Where did you get the intel to even be in that area? Anyone tell you where he was taking photos, or did you just get "lucky"? When you saw them BETWEEN YOU AND THE ELK did YOU consider backing out and regrouping. His right to be there is as good as yours. Maybe you spooked them and ruined his photos. His continued photos show that he doesn't completely spook them out of the area or he wouldn't continue to get such great shots.

So what is your problem. Regroup and go after them instead of whining on here!
