Unit 75 archery mule deer.

Sorry, I wish I was posting pictures and a story for you rather than a question.

I was doing some research here on MM and haven't found much about this unit. A buddy and I are planning a backpack archery hunt for mule deer. We are looking at unit 75. Non-res odds are a little over 50% but I cant find any comments about the area.

We were looking at heading up near Pear, Ruby and Emerald lakes, north of Durango. I was looking at a hiking site to get access to the area and it looks like its a really popular area for hikers.

Anyone have info on this area?

Nick, That is one of the more rugged areas of the state and I think you might do better to look into the Dove Creek area or maybe Unit 77 north of Pagosa Springs, there you will find easy acess to the Wilderness area. John

North of Pagosa is Wolf Creek? way more rugged.

75 is not bad but it does have it's steep areas.
lower area produces alot of ponderosa, oak brush mix, good deer habitat than on up into firs and aspens. 75 holds a decent deer population with a good amount of smaller bucks in the last 3-5 years being taken during rifle season.
you can hunt in thick oak brush or timberline and anything in between. Also much of it is roadless. which is nice.
