I don't know anything about the area, but I was invited to put in with some old friends that are familiar with the area.

I was wondering if there was any advice some of you guys could give me? Thanks in Advance.

I have a little story to share. I had a gunsmith of mine get a bull elk tag for 6awest. I told him I had seen some good bulls and I said I can help him find them. He said come along. I was so prepared for this trip it wasn't even funny. I was more excited then he was. Although he wanted to check out all the areas his clients told him where to go but we had no success. He took me everywhere and no sign. I then said do you want to go where they really are. He said " where to??" I said take this road go here go there and we started to get to an area where you know you are in a good area. I said pull over and kill the engine. We walk from here. He said ok!! We got out and we sprayed down and started getting out our gear. We heard bull screaming in all directions. He looked at me and I looked back at him with a grin on my face. I said I told you so... He gathered his bow and then.........He said Oh no!!! I said what!!! I left my arrows at home!!!!! I was speechless as I continued to hear the forest come alive with rut action to the Max!!!!!We never came back after that mishaps. Nor did I want to return.

Ugh, I really hope that I can avoid the rookie mistakes that are a rite of passage, it seems.

Note to self: remember to bring license, tag, arrows, and broaheads.

Dont forget the good ol Peanut butter. That stuff will bring in all the Game you want to see!!! A little bit here in there near the those low hanging branches will attract those animals like now!!

That reminds me of a time when my buddy showed up about 3:45am. We put all his gear in my truck and take off, we had about a 50 mile drive. Get to the site and start unloading and puting on our gear and he say's hey, you got my bow? No I don't have your bow. Oh $$#@^$#, I left it on the hood of my truck back at your place. I threw him the keys and said see ya when ya get back, and away he went.We still laugh over that.

Tinman, you sent a pm to who? Anyways, there are some sign up in 6aw. Saw bull 10 min after getting out of the truck and walking in to one of my spots. Unfortunately, I didnt put in for the unit myself but put in some family members and a good friend of mine. We all got hits on our cc for elk so lets see what happens. Best of luck to all of you.
