I'll be hunting Unit 67 around October 15th and later. Anyone have any tips or tactics for the end of the season. Will the antelope be rutting still? I'll be tenting it so I'm real mobile and open to suggestions. Thank again. MITROLL

At that point they'll be grouping up for winter. The rut should be pretty much over. There may be a few late bloomers. Some will be migrating or close to it. Others tend to hang close to the same areas. You should see lots of goats in large groups, so it makes it easier to pick out the bigger ones. The later it gets to the end of the month, the more careful you'll need to be with the horns popping off. That doesn't matter much because you have to pop them off anyway. Good luck and have fun.

Prepare for any weather. Glass early and late to take advantage of good light and bring the best glass you can afford. You may see some rutting activity, but the goats should be starting to group up, especially if the weather is cold and snowy, which could happen. The benefit is the time of year is that you can look over a lot of bucks in a group, but the drawback is that you have to sneak up on just that many more eyes. It can be frustrating to get close to nice buck amid lots of other antelope. Bring "man-sized" tent stakes. Have fun.

Thanks for the tips. My friend is bringing me 1/2" rebar rods to make tents stakes out of. Do you think 16" will be long enough? I just am using a Kodiak Canvas 10x14 tent. Thanks again.
