Unit 60 antelope

I haven't been on here for a while but I'm needing a little help so here goes, I drew unit 60 wyoming antelope, I really wasn't trying to draw it just got lucky I really just wanted my 2nd choice and a point, l really don't know anything about the unit so any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

The entire northern half of unit 60 north of the Bar X Road and the Luman Road, except for the se part, is all BLM and state land, so go have fun and kill a big one!

Good tag! It should be easy to find goats. Just get a good map,wyoming chip in the GPS and go hunt.

Should I go the first week of season or wait till later ? I currently have the first week of October off but I could change it

If you have time to scout one up, hunt 1st one for sure. Not sure of the tags #s in 60 but first weekend usually has the most orange hats.

You'll see bucks all day long, but finding an 80 inch+ buck is pretty tough. We saw one guy during the entire hunt so I wouldn't worry about other hunters. After 7 days of hunting I was happy with this guy.

I think there are only 50 tags so there is very little pressure. Oct 15 can be busy due to elk unit 100

Is there anyplace to stay close to the unit or should I just plan to camp ?

I'd plan on camping up in the north end of the unit and taking everything to be self sufficient for however long you plan to hunt (gas, water, food, tire chains and a good spare tire with a repair kit, etc.).

I got your PM and will respond later. I wanted to say that I'd camp in the unit. Bring all the stuff you're going to need and stay out in the unit. To drive back and forth from town to where we hunted would take 2 hours each way. It's a huge unit and even though the roads aren't bad, they're not great. Bring an ATV and hunt right out of camp. We did and never started our truck for 9 days.

BTW, if you have just a buck tag and no doe tags you likely won't need this. We had two buck tags and four doe tags and shot all six and used this to process them. There aren't any trees for miles!!

Nice way to take care of them in the field. We sometimes take a folding table and put our animal on it for the field work.

Is that set up strong enough to put an extension on the insert and open the tailgate for loading from the winch?

I'd go later in the season, goats from the adjacent units will migrate in, augmenting what's already there (plus it's easy to judge bucks when there's several together, but easy to make a mistake when there's just one or two chasing a group of does). I'd hunt the cyclone rim area, lots of local bucks plus some moving in from 64, good glassing points, stalkable terrain, opportunities to get off the road, and fewer elk hunters - you might have the place to yourself

This is great trophy area, but it isn't easy ! Takes hard work, lots of time, & luck too. Hunt the Cyclone Rim Area & all around it too, you camp out & stay there & take lots of gas & food. No way you can stay in a town & stay in a motel--- just too much distance such a huge unit ! There is also an area called " The Big Empty" that holds some large bucks, but I would have to I D it on a map for you. That area is really isolated ! Glad to help any way I can. Yes-- hunt the later part of the season-- place then is all yours .
