Unit 52 Cabin Rental - Muzz. Elk Season, Oct 5th - 9th.

nowhere close. You'd be leaving Antonito at 3am to maybe get into position by 6am...considering any reasonable spot is more than 1mile from the main forest road. rent an RV and park it up there. Then ATV around the place. Then hike in the dark.

There are rooms for rent at the chili line depot restaurant in Tres Piedras. That is a good jump off point for the hunt and you could be in elk very near there.

A little farther out you could stay at hotel Luna mystica near the gorge bridge.

An RV is better than either but may not work for your situation. That unit is famous for terrible roads and stolen/vandalized camp sites so be careful. Fun hunt with plenty of elk though.
