I hunt the pioneer mnts with a fare amount of success .I have been seeing less quality animals over the years . How are the animals doing there and is the hunting better down in the foothills ?

You asking about elk or deer? 49 is a great elk unit. Not terribly good for deer although I've heard some rumors about good bucks taken in the Pioneers.

ive camped in 49 and saw a whole mess of elk but only 1 shooter buck it was a 3 point about 25 inches wide but he had about 10 does with him and a couple 2 points thats about all i saw this year
