Unit 45 scouting success!

First off no pics, sorry. I went out to unit 45 on
Saturday and after a 3.5 mile hike I reached the area I had located on Google Earth and my BLM map.

It was amazing Elk country, scattered buck brush and aspens with patches of Fir trees. The spot I had chosen as my camping ground turned out to be their main water source, so my camp is going to have to move.

I saw 2 bulls, one raghorn and the other was a 280 class 6 point. With the heat, the elk were already bedded but there was sign everywhere. Elk "freeways" came in from 3 adjacent canyons to get water.

The best part of the trip was that, the entire time, there was absolutely no sign whatsoever of any human presence. I mean none! No trash, no wire or fencing, tracks, shells, casings, nothing! I'm going to be totally alone out there.

Good luck to everyone else counting the days!
