Unit 37 Moose

I'm having a tough time getting a good feel for burning my points on a Unit 37 moose tag? Would anybody be willing to drop me a PM and/or let me PM them on moose in that unit.

My buddy hunted moose in ID adjacent to WY unit 37 and he saw 15 bulls in 3.5 days, but everybody keeps saying there isn't squat on the WY side of the line??? I don't see how it can be that much different less than 10 miles away (in the same habitat), but maybe I'm missing something?

I appreciate any insight you guys might offer.

I hunted 37 back in 1989. Saw some nice bulls.

This year hunted area 16 which adjoins 37 on the south. Hunted hard for 10-12 days without seeing or hearing a moose or elk. Finally took a small bull. I was not impressed with the amount of game in this area although there was little snow to push the bulls out of the Tetons. The moose population may be pretty low along the Idaho border right now. We hunted away from roads most of the time but when we did drive from place to place or at the camper could not get over the amount of idaho road hunters. The area may not get much enforcement from WY wardens and poaching may be a problem

I have heard that moose are down in all of western Wyoming,I took a nice bull in 2002 in area 18,but since then they have really reduced the tags in that area.

The wolf population is devastating the moose and elk in N.W. Wyoming. Calf survival is very low.

Now that the wolves have been delisted and we can start hammering on them, the game may rebound. For the next couple of years it may be better strategy to be content in accumalating points.
