Found this guy hiding out on the side of the mountain. Pretty tough hunt. To warm and lots of broken horns.

Not like it used to be. Since the fire and around 50,000 acres were burnt wide open big bulls have really been shot up and the smaller bulls don’t get time to catch back up. Wish NMG&F could do something to get it back like the glory days. A lot of elk but I’ve really seen the quality of bulls go down.

34, 36, 37 all great Units but you have to put in the work. We’ve hunted deer in 37 for over 45 years now and those elk didn’t start moving into that area until around 2000. These areas get those Mescalero Apache high dollar bulls moving back and forth at times. Good luck.
