Unit 3 Elk

Just noticed the really early start and late end on this General unit.

Any advice on public ground accessibility and if it is worth hunting early or late.

Virtually all the elk are on private land. 99% of the area is private. It would take some legwork and phonecalls to get access to elk country.

Good Luck getting in on the private ranches where the elk stay. Most of the landowners hunt them and the others have freinds and family that hunt. This area holds very few elk. Two years ago when they first opened the area for general they slaughtered them because they were not used to being hunted. When you get to hunt them for 4 months it takes a toll.
