Unit 27 Elk and Deer

Hey guys my dad and I are heading up to unit 27 this year to hunt deer and elk. Just wondering about the pressure around the Pistol Creek area and if we can expect to see any deer. We are mainly going for elk however and any info would be greatly appreciated. We know the road rides the ridge in pistol creek and are just wondering if a four wheel drive truck would be enough to get in or if four wheelers would be needed due to the nasty road (ive heard).

My thinking is if the road is too nasty.. WALK. Don't lower yourself to a quad. And pistol gets hit hard by guides and such because of the access. Just what I have heard.

I have hunted a few times down stream of pistol creek at Indian creek. We don't go near pistol creek because of the guides in there. I have only hunted mule deer in there but I have seen 10 or more bulls in there that would go over 275. And one monster that was an easy 340. We always flew in.
