Unit 1-3 Moose

Hello All - I drew a Moose tag for unit 1-3 for the November 1-14 time. I drove up last Saturday to look around. I have maps of the area. If anyone could clue me onto good potential areas to scout I would sure appreciate it. The area to the east of brush lake looks like it may be good but I didn't have time to look too close. Copper creek also looked interesting. I was born and raised in Coeur d'Alene but I don't know much about the country up there. Everyone I've spoken to says there are a lot of moose up there but the short season has me a little nervous.

Thanks and good hunting,
James

skip brush lake.. moose are way up in the country that they shut the roads down in october. moose are around that area, just deff. better areas. copper creek is good. going up deer creek is better. you'll see more moose.

Thanks for sharing your info madmoose - I'll definitely post pics. I'm looking forward to exploring the area. I'll let you know how it goes.

thanks again,
James

spent 13 days hunting moose out of brush lake. only ran into one good bull up on top where they close the roads, i called him in on the first day. saw a 45 plus in there before opener. saw a few cows. copper and deer creek are deff. good places. a friend shot a 50 inch just a little down the road from where ruby ridge trail cuts across the canuck basin rd. and another friend shot a 36 over on hall mt. good place up on top.. go up the mission crk. rd to get there. buddy shot a 43 between the 2 gated areas i told you about. and helped a guy get one out just past that spot a mile or 2 down the road heading west/n. west back towards copper. there are deff. moose all over but you wont run into them alot like you would in unit 2. givin the poss. snow conditions you might not make it up high. but you never know what kind of winter were going to have.... big whiteys up there also....in the same area, with a mix of mulies. you'll be running into alot of deer hunters, stop them and ask if they have been seeing moose. all those other eyes are worth a million when your on a short time frame.
