Anyone out there shoot these bows? I am seriously looking at getting one of them. I have been out of the game for 20 years and was a finger shooter when I did hunt. Going to make the switch to a release, and have heard these two are shooters. Comments, suggestions? Thanks

My bro-in-law shot a Razortech. He liked it...killed some animals with it. He switched over to a Matthews LX last year. He shot my Legacy and couldn't resist. All in all they're good bows. If you have been out of the loop for a while I would suggest shooting as many different bows as possible before making a purchase.

I seriously looked at Matthews first, but decided to go with a bow that the draw length can be adjusted. At this point, I don't really know what my draw length will be and I don't know if I will use the string or a string loop to shoot off, so the adjustability of the Hoyts make them more attractive. thanks for the info.

I can't vouch for the razortec, having never shot it. I do own a single cam 2002 ultratec, before they came out with the cam 1/2, and yes it's shooter.

I have the 2002 Ultratec as well, and it shoots great, not a speed burner but smooth. I shoot with fingers, why change to release? I changed back to fingers one less thing to fiddle with or lose.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-13-05 AT 05:13PM (MST)[p]that would be a plus for the Ultratec, because that does leave the fingers option open. At 33 inches, the Razortec would probably not work with fingers too well. However, when I did shoot with fingers, the release was where I seemed to blow shots the most, so I will at least try a release. I know that Chuck Adams still shoots fingers. Can't argue with his success, especially when you have only a couple of seconds to shoot.

I've had my Razortec for 2 yrs now & I love it! Awesome grip & very smooth. Considering how short it is, it's very forgiving thanks to the brace height. The fact that you can change your draw lenght @ any time is a plus too; especially if your not sure if you want to shoot w/ a loop, fingers, diff't release, etc. It's hard to find anything wrong w/new bows these days, it's all about getting out there & finding the one that best fits your style.

I would elect to shoot a slightly longer bow such as a ultratec, or a protec, I shoot both, and for 2005 the protec has a 8" brace, 7" for the ultratec. The protec is only about 5 fps slower this year than the ultatec, with that big of brace, it makes for a great fingers bow. I personally hunt with the ultatecs and can get 280-290 fps at 68# with a 430 grain carbon shaft. One tip is to get rid of the stock strings, I use winners choice strings and pick up 6 FPS with absolutely no peep rotation. Speed balls also help with the speed. Keep Hope, Faith, Love. Hope you get a chance at a big one, Faith in your shooting abilities, Keep the Love of hunting and archery strong. MMeyer

I have a 2003 Ultratec XT2000 cam1/2. It's a very nice bow for release shooting. If you ever plan to shoot fingers or think about, I'd make sure to go with the Protec and XT3000 limbs.

I've tried to shoot the 38" a-a Ultratec with fingers and it exhibits killer finger pinch. For a release it's a dandy though.

Cheers,
Pete
