UDWR and Poaching Dogs???

Just saw the news story about how the UDWR now has “poaching dogs”, meant to help catch poachers. They didn’t say how they help, so I’d have to hear it. Has anyone heard the “how”?
Without knowing more, it sounds like a waste of time and money to me.
What do you all think?

I saw a Wardens episode where the dog would find the spent casings, shotgun wads, arrows, etc...

Maybe track game, blood trails, gut piles too?

Dogs are amazing creatures. Would be interesting to see them work.

I'm not sure either but I think poachers might have a distinct disgusting smell? Just a guess.

With what well trained dogs can do in law enforcement from drug searches to physically detaining a criminal to blood and cadaver tracking. Then search and rescue etc I'm sure the warden paired with the dog will be in high demand.
Seems like a good idea to me.
