That's the way we roll here in MO. One of the most obese states in the USA. I'm surprised that the recipe didn't call for some sort of gravy on top of it.

Well there is a recipe of two for good turtle burger gravy. I like them done with a nice white gravy or a mango-fusion salsa cruda.
