Trophy Ridge Drop Zone Advise

Hey Guys,

I need some advise here. I recently put a drop zone rest on my bow. I shot it indoors at the shop after first getting it installed and I liked it a lot. I hadn't had a good opportunity to really shoot the bow since then until today. Man, when I got outside, away from the echos of the brick building that I shot in at the shop, the rest is really load. When it drops, it makes a horrendous smacking sound. I am not sure if this is normal noise from the rest, or if it is adjusted out of whack or what, but my once whisper quiet bow now sounds like I am capping off a muzzle loader when I let fly. I checked everything and it is tight, the rest is adjusted so that it just comes to the top at full draw. I just can't figure it out. I am not disappointed in the performance of the rest at all, and the noise is coming at a time when hopefully it won't matter too much, but it is jsut really irritating to take a bow that was so quiet before and turn it into what it sounds like now. Any advise or is this just what comes with the rest? Thanks in advance.

Hey Dan,
I have the same rest and had the same problem. The rest is hitting the arrow plate (the flat part under the arrow, above your grip hand....don't know the tech. name.).
I simply raised the drop away to where it just barely missed hitting the flat part and then re-adjusted my sight. You may need to adjust your nock point. I did not have to for some reason. A little bit of a pain, but well worth it. I also installed a small arrow holder (small rubber doohicky) on the plate to hold my arrow in place for the last few yards of a stalk.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help any more.

Archerman,

Thanks for the tip, but I am certain that this is not the problem that I am having wit this rest. The drop zone sits behind the shelf and drops vertically from the top at full draw to the bottom upon release. The sound is made when the arm hits the bottm of the rest, not the shelf of the riser. Thanks for the response though.

One easy thing to try is use some mole shin or fleece on the rest on the underneath side and see if it helps.
Just a quick thought.

Whoops.....wrong rest! :)
I have the trophy taker rest. LOL

I have a dropzone. I put some fleece where the arm drops into the housing. It helped. I've read on other forums that Trophy Ridge makes a quiet kit for the pre 07 dropzones. The 07's are suppost to be redesigned. For what its worth, I have a Muzzy Zero Effect on another bow and it flawless.

I have the drop zone and have never heard one that was loud. Every Shakey hunter makes noise like crazy after it bottoms out or slaps the shelf. You can put some rubber/foam padding on the shelf to help. Just replace the pads as needed. A decent fall away for a good price, but they just wear through and make noise.

I have an 05 Drop Zone and it is quiet as a church mouse. I loe the rest. I've heard of some that were a bit noisy and my buddy's made a faint metalic clink sound. There is a well known fix that involves putting a small rubber O ring on the vertical rod (under the spring) inside the rest's housing. It is the metal piece that supports the up and down movement of the launcher arm. If you look inside the housing you can see that the base of this rod is where the launcher arm bottoms out when it drops. A small O ring around that verticle rod will give cushioning when the launcher arm fall and bottoms out.

This is of course if you feel like tinkering with it. I'm of the opinion that nothing on a bow should make a noise that can be prevented. Anything that does is faulty. If you are not satisfied, send it back. Trophy Ridge will fix it for you.

im on my second one and neither one is loud minimal noise at most. id say take it back if you can if its really that bad. travis.
