looking for lightweight tripod for binoculars, will be using swarovski 15x56 for glassing. needs to be compact and easy to maneuver since we will be on horseback, and what head would you recommend

check out the 'Rocketfish' at Best Buy. A little long for some packs but not for me. Carbon fiber, twist legs, weight hook, will support 20lbs; comes with a ball head that has a separate pan feature.

FWIW if you are going to wear a backpack on the horse; don't let it ride to low down on your back and thereby rest on the Cantle of the saddle. It adds odd weight which can transfer to the Skirt and on to the horses kidneys and makes them sore. But you may all ready know this-
