I just got a new spotting scope. I went with the Leupold gold ring for my upcoming sheep hunt in Alaska and I am looking for a good light weight tripod that has some good stability against the wind. I was thinking about the Vortex High Country but wanted you guy's opinion before I bought it.

no budget...lightweight is key, does not need to be standing length, sitting length is fine.

If lightweight and a mild wind is a concern I think the outdoorsman tripod is your best bet with their pan head or a Jim White head. This is going to be lightweight yet still buck the wind. The medium height tripod weighs 2.4lbs

If you want to real light the Slik 613CF with the Jim White or outdoorsman pan head will do the job but be a little less stable in the wind. It weighs 1.6lbs

Hope that helps some.
