Question from a rookie about tripods.Whis is better a die-cast ball head; or a three pan head? What are the differences, or pros and cons if you may. Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you are doing but for me the pan head is best, specificly the Outdoorsmans Pan Head bar none, hands down, no contest. Allows me to "pyramid" search an entire mountain side by fixing the vertical and "nose bumping" all the way across.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-10 AT 03:26PM (MST)[p]I have never used a ball head, but I think fatrooster has talked me into getting one from Outdoorsmans and giving it a go. I have not had any problems with the pan head except it is heavy. If you do like hardcore said above and "get the Outdoorsmans" weight will not be a problem since they are the lightest head ever made. Sounds like whatever way you go Outdoorsmans is the way to go.
