LAST EDITED ON Apr-07-19 AT 09:08AM (MST)[p]My 14 year old granddaughter has been shooting trap since she was 12 years old. She is a freshman in high school and this is her first year on the school trap team.
yes it is hard to believe that in CA. a high school will sponsor a trap shooting team.
She started out shooting a modified Remington model 870 pump shotgun that had been cut down to fit her for length of pull. Last year she earned her straight 25 & 50 clay bird badges.
For Christmas I bought her a dedicated trap shotgun with a single and double over-under barrels with raised adjustable shotgun rib. The shotgun is also adjustable for cheek rest and length of pull. screw-in chokes and ported barrels.
Her team had their first match in Stockton this Saturday. due to being on the school basketball team, she was unable to practice with her new shotgun as her games were on the same days the trap shooting team had practice sessions.
At the match she used that new shotgun to shoot a score of 86 out of 100 and placed very high in the standings.
She is no shrinking violet as the boys found out that are on the team. triple "K" and Lil Red will like this one.

Last year one of the boys on the team approached my granddaughter and teased her about shooting trap with a cheap Rem. 870 while he was holding his several thousand dollar trap gun his parents bought him.
My granddaughter looked him in the eye and grinned at him and stated this. " I and my cheap 300 dollar shotgun just got though shooting the pants off of you with a better score". The boy did not reply back and walked away.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing. It's cool that she's that good at such a young age. It makes you think about how good she will be as an adult. Even better is that she can out compete the smart ass boys.

We had a local here a few years back that shot a real Cheap 870 with No Rib!

I Heard alot of SMART Guys say:

Who's that Farmer with the Gum Boots and the Cheap Gun?

They Usually Found out Real Quick Who He was when He Cleaned their Clock!

One of my Daughters got to steal a One Dollar Bill from Kim's Father as we sat in the bleachers of the Tom Lowe Shooting Facility in Atlanta Georgia.

In everything Kim achieved, she used a Field Grade Perazzi.

Relh, "I AM PROUD OF YOU" for the shotgun you gave her. I am PROUD of each person in your Family and you as a Leading Man.

I got a bit emotional knowing via this website that you and I were so physically close. Let's try to get to know each other via a Phone Call.

Jagerdad :)

Eel, her older brother was also on the high school trap team when he was in high school. She has already surpassed his shooting scores and she will rub it in once and awhile.

All six of my grandkids are good shots, mostly pistol as they can practice here at the house on my pistol range and they love shooting the 45 ACP 1911 as their favorite pistol to practice with. They will be supporters for 2nd. amendment rights though out their lifetime.

Congrats! Though very humbling to have my ass handed to me by both my mom, dad and God knows how many young kids, it's always great to see young kids succeed in the sport.

Looks like a Tristar combo? I've heard very good things about those guns despite being very reasonably priced. If she sticks with it and her hearts in it, a Perazzi will suit her well in the future. My parents and myself shoot Perazzis, they are awesome guns. If you are in need of info on the sport, www.trapshooters.com is a great forum. The guys can be jerks to the newcomers but there is a wealth of knowledge there. Best of luck!!

Lhedrick1, Yes it is a Tri-Star TT-15 combo with two sets of barrels. I was able to pick it up for a little over $1,800.00. those Turks did a great job on the precision fit of the metal and wood. Locks up smooth and tight. Says a lot for CNC machinery and minor hand fitting.
A lot will depend on her if we consider any shotgun changes in the future. we need to keep her supplied with practice ammo as she wants to break that 100 clay birds.

Her coach says she has the drive and determination to be one of his best shooters.
