Anyone had any success in training dogs to find sheds of any sort? I have heard distant rumors every once in a while. If you have ever had success, please let us know the secret. I have been letting my GSP chew on some brown MD Antlers and want to train him to dual as a bird dog/antler magnet.

No luck here, My chocolate lab walks right over them in the constant search for grouse, noyt a terrible problem I guess. I'd love to teach him to find both though. Has anybody had any luck?

My dog (a jack russell) has found a few horns but has never been through formal training. Now, my magpie I once trained and owned specifically for antlers, that was a different story.

I HAVE A YELLOW LAB THAT I HAVE TRAINED TO FIND SHEDS. SO FAR HE HAS ONLY FOUND ONE SHED ALL BY HIMSELF WITHOUT ME SEEING IT FIRST. BUT EVERY TIME I SEE A SHED WITHIN 100 YARDS OF ME I WILL TELL HIM TO FIND THE SHED AND HE ALWAYS FINDS IT AND BRINGS IT BACK TO ME. ALL THAT I HAD TO DO TO TRAIN HIM WAS, WHEN HE WAS A PUP I WOULD HIDE A FRESH DEER SHED IN THE HOUSE AND TELL HIM TO FIND THE HORN. HE SLOWLY PROGRESSED AND MOVED OUTDOORS. BUT NOW HE CAN REALLY DETERMINE WHAT A SHED IS, WHETHER IT IS A DEER OR AN ELK SHED.

leave your dog at home....animals are stressed enough with us walking around and really get spooked up when you throw in a dog
