Most Americans want a use and discard product. Now day's if the fridge or the family car is four years old, Momma wants a new one. So...........they build what we demand? Yes? Discusting.

But my old Ford diesel has 256,000 on it and still purrs like the tabby cat that sleeps on the hood. Somethings are better, but.......they're generally American made ;-)

Another thing CBat, my friends and I all want $200 a day or more in wages (and my wife wants equal pay and you can't blame her ). That costs $350 a day (when you include FICA, Insurance, Unemployment Inc. etc. Labor in China is $20 a day or less. Mexico, ? but cheap, by comparison. Hard to afford products build on that kind of delta. There's a reason they build junk. If we weren't buying it........ Oh well, same argument on drug trafficking I suppose. We can't have nice things! We're a mess!

In most cases........ya. Just not in the case of my made in China wife! At 52 years she is holdin up just fine. While prior American built wife was by far and away the #1 worst investment of my life, costing me ALL my hard earned real estate and retirement. Her "jobs" generated a grand total of $0.00 in 20 years of marriage. Yuck!

My new wife didn't cost any Americans their jobs. She has worked her entire teaching career in Sichuan. Fang retires next year, when she will move here and still not take any American's job.

Zim, what if she wants to join SFW when she gets here? Are you going to take her to the Expo and show her off? :)

LAST EDITED ON Feb-28-16 AT 10:05AM (MST)[p]Last week I looked for some decent optics for one of my evil black rifles. I looked real hard at a Burris with a Vortex tactical mount. Crap, the Vortex was made in China.

I ended up with an EOTECH. Good stuff.

Like you Bess, I havent had good luck with China built stuff, never any good for me. with one exception. we rebuilt a couple old Tote Gotes a while back. Littelbuck and I went with Briggs and Stratton engines. we used 31/2 horse, our son got a harbor freight 6-1/2 Honda clone,. it runs like a top. everything else has been junk.

I Finally got a Pic of the Bumper Sticker on the back of Zims Jeep:

Haha funny you asked. I've actually been educating Fang about sportsmen's issues for the last 3 years, including AZSFW & UTSFW. I sent her the link to the recent KUTV article Friday, and quizzed her about it this morning. Guess what? She actually passed. She read the whole dam thing! I think she knows joining SFW could mean a divorce so she ain't gonna do that. It's kind of funny because I know she has no interest in this stuff, but still she keeps up just to humor me.

Have to mention. During my visit to China this month, Fang paid for dam near everything but my flight: 6 Day Thailand honeymoon (both of us); 50 Family member hotel reception dinner; 3 1/2 weeks of taxis, buses, bullet trains, meals & hotels; And get this......her own diamond wedding ring (when the store wouldn't accept Int'l CC's); Plus every misc. expense you can think of. At the end of the trip I tried to transfer her reimbursement from my US bank, and she refused! She knew if I did I'd have a 3% transactions fee. So she said I
could just pay for our US expenses. Then she told me she was saving to contribute money for the house I'll be buying for us in the US (which we agreed I'd take care of). I can't believe it, my ex never paid for anything in 20 years! Fang contributes more to our marriage than SFW does towards wildlife projects. Way over 30%!

Here is our Mao old school wedding photo taken in Chengdu 2/28 for our official Chinese government marriage license. Some couples take these wearing red guard outfits for fun.

Yes she really is 52 years old.

My son had to buy a patch or something recently that said, "Boy Scouts of America" for scouts. It was made in China. We chuckled.

While we buy all those goods, they also turn a blind eye to their people who try to destroy our businesses. My server tracks IP addresses that try to hack into my server. 95%+ are from China and it happens A LOT.

Yes I saw a 60 Minutes segment on this last month. The US investigators tracked 90% of the hacks to one large government office building in Shanghai. Turns out all the employees working there were Chinese military. This was brought up in recent discussions between Obama & the Chinese president Xi Jinping. Jinping admitted the wrongdoing and promised it would stop. But in the month following all they did was transfer that work to their equivalent of CIA employees. Apparently their military got scolded for doing "sloppy" work?

Although I enjoy visiting there and the Chinese citizens treat me like gold, there's a lot of disturbing things like this hacking and copyright infringement. On a good note, China is drifting towards a capitalist government more every year, slowly, as the old guard dies off. I believe within 20 years you're going to see a complete transformation. Communism and even socialism will be gone. You're going to see a totally democratic government. Pollution will be addressed and industry modernized. The low wages will fade away. Even today there is virtually no military presence in public places. I only saw a few soldiers at the large city bullet train stations and airports.

There are some nice things like virtually zero crime. Kids walk around even the slum neighborhoods at night without concern. Zero drugs in any of the 4 cities I visit annually.
