Thinking about WY.

I have never hunted in Wyoming and I would like to hunt antelope there next year. I'm from AZ and I really enjoy hunting my home state, but getting drawn here for antelope is dang near impossible. Personally I think that antelope meat is by far superior to venison & elk as well. I no longer eat much beef. I'm looking for any advise or help getting started with the application process. I don't expect much input from the WY residents because I know how I feel about NR hunters here in AZ. But I will tell you that I have a deep passion & respect for the outdoors. I'm also a very ethical outdoorsman.

Thank you, Eric

Bates First thing I would do would be purchase a preference point. You can go to the wy f&g homepage and purchase one for this year still. There are many units you can draw with 1 point and kill a decent buck! GOOD LUCK!

+1 on the PP but Look at areas that you can draw on your 2nd choice also, If you don't draw your 1st you'll still be able to hunt and gain a PP. Please Check to see if you can get access in both areas before you put in.

Heck, Go hunt them this year. There are plenty of tags left. You will probably have to pay a small trespass fee in most of the ares that have leftover tags.

Definantly buy a point.

REDDOG

The word HATE is a very profound word. I do not HATE nonresident hunters, I just don't give up a whole lot of information in my dealings with them. Heck I've shown a few NR boys some of the best hunting spots here at home. The only thing that I'm trying to do is broaden my horizons. I've come to realize that is all that the NR's are trying to do as well.

Id be more likely to help a non-res as a ressy any day.I have found them to be much more appreciative of hunting Wyoming than a lot of residents(lots of ressy's seem to have "entitlement" issues). Also, you can trade info with non-res.A guy I met from Az a few years back is taking me elk hunting in Az this year.I helped him out in Wyo in 2005.Good advice from those guys on getting the PP,Bates.

in that case, get your pp purchased before the end of september. it will gurentee you a good unit next year. you can also pick up two doe tags for most units, apply for them with the buck application. I wont say what units, as some of them with good odds do not offer many NR tags, and i dont need the competition:) but a use map showing public land together with the draw odds option on this site, find the units you can draw,(you may have to do the special tag ) look at a map and see if the public ground is sufficient, once you have narrowed down a few units, you can ask a specific question about them and will probly get a bigger responce. or do a search on the forums, as the unit has probly been talked about before.

Ya that's a good one. My buddy live's in S.carolina and call's turkey's woodcarp pretty funny.
