Here is another picture that "ramslam" sent and a much larger and better picture. Looks to be a Dall Sheep but Glen can fill in the story about this ram. Congrats again to you Glen.

Wow!
I would be a little leery about standin up there with that big ole pack on!
I think I would cape him out, take the head and horns, then roll him off the rock to deal with the meat on flatter ground.
WOW!

If I'm not mistaken but I do believe I've seen this pic before or one very similar to it. It was in either Eastman's or maybe Trophy Hunter. This was a dall sheep hunt and it had completed his slam. The title was something like '5 in 5 years' or something like that and he done it all on a realistic budget. Its an awesome picture. It was a great story also. But after all that blubbering, if I'm wrong, correct me. LOL

Droptine,

You are right, it was featured in the June-July 2003 issue of Eastman's Journal starting on page 26. The Dall scored 170-5/8's and then completed his Slam with a self-guided hunt in New Mexico with a desert ram that went 174-1/2.

Congrats to you Glen on the goal.

Sorry guys--that pic has been around a bit but its my favorite picture I have ever taken so I like to share it. It was in Eastman's but not in GSCO or Wild Sheep. Although it was in Reno and won first place hunter in field. It was also on the cover of Alaska SCI and WAFNAWS newsletter. The 5 Rams in 5 Days was a different story. I dont recall what my article was titled.

Funny thing about the picture is I was really ticked at my guide (who is up on the rock) when I took that picture. We tooked different routes down to the ram and I beat him to that spot. When I got there I was like man that will make an awesome picture so I sat down and dug out my camera. In the mean time my guide caught up to me and went around and up on the rock. As it turned out he really helped capture the moment with that unsteady stance on the rock.
