WG&F to regulate antler collection (posted 3/7/09)
Cat Urbigkit,
The Wyoming Legislature recently enacted a new law giving the Wyoming Game and Fish Department the power to regulate the collection of shed antlers and horns in western Wyoming.

According to the new law, its purpose is "To regulate and control the collection of shed antlers and horns of big game animals for the purpose of minimizing the harassment or disturbance of big game populations on public lands west of the Continental Divide any time between January 1 and May 1 of each year."

The law goes into effect July 1, 2009. After that, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department can promulgate regulations regarding antler collection.

Like it or not...Utah is a HUGE part of the problem. Last year there was a season in Northern Utah that opened later than guys wanted to get out. Guess where they ended up...SW Wyoming! I am all for a regulated shed season so it doesnt bother me one bit but to say that Utah isn't the majority of the problem is crazy. It's not that Utahns arent ethical...there's just a LOT more of em!

I have to agree, Utards are the number 1 reason Wy. has to make the law. It's been kicked around for a few years now. My cousin is a red shirt in SW Wy and he told me last year was the straw that broke the camels back. Last year they received more complaints about shed hunters then the pervious 5 years combined and the vast majority of the shed hunters he came in contact with were Utards.

So Whity, you can cry all you want but facts are facts. BTW I live in Utah and the next Wy. resident I see shed hunting in Utah will be the first.

it seems to me they could have had a couple dates. most public land ends up being owned by the state. it seems like WY would owe more of a debt to there own residents. poss. have a resident shed opener and a week or two later open it up to everyone!

well shoty im not crying im just stating facts and you living right there on the boarder no duh they dont want to cross the border to get sheds in their own backyard they head down south and pick up the sheds facts are facts buddy and come down to southern utah and let the foot race begin to pick up bone. heck ive even spoke with some guys from florida that fly out once a year to come out and pick up sheds and some even drive out. i give it to him for saying there are more utah people and thats why you see some up there in wyoming pulling stupid stuff. hate to break it to you though the world doesnt revolve around wyoming and everyone up there doesnt act as professional as you when it comes to picking up horns and some do come to utah and act like clowns. by calling utah people "utards" does it make you feel a like you got them good or think that it hurts utah peoples feelings? makes me feel glad to live here in utah so i dont belong to one of the other states and sound like a jack. and you being a prime example of living in utah calling utah residents utards..... go get your 5 year old neighbor to come type for you and then come post what you have to say or tell you what send it to me ill proof read it for you and send it back so you can post it so you dont make a fool out of yourself.
