Thanks Utah

I just thought that I would take the time to express how grateful I am for the opportunity to still be out in the hills this season. While I have still been unable to get out and actually look for some sheds I am glad that it is something that I can still enjoy. The past 2 years have been different to say the least and it required me to travel outside of Northern Utahs borders in order to shed hunt legally during Utahs closed season. One of the latent functions of the shed season has lead me to new shedding grounds outside of the northern state boundaries. I suppose that now I am more experienced at finding sheds in other states. I just hope that we can preserve our current policy with little change. I am perfectly content with taking the online ethics course and I hope to preserve the innocence in shed hunting. Let's keep the bad reputation of shed hunters in check so we can enjoy this for generations.

I would also like to thank those of you who reside in Idaho, Nevada and Wyoming for not slashing my tires while I was out collecting in your state. I did my best to manage your coyotes while exploring your territory.

Some eye candy from my two years of exile:

A big brown that I have collected from the same buck for 2 years now. Last year he no showed....

A bull that I call the sledge hammer. This anlter wouldnt score good but it weighs a lot more than your normal antler.

One that I will never forget... found 3 days before the first closure of the shed season.

Nice finds!

I love picking up sheds and I hope the new changes will help wildlife and educate people! There will always be people out in the hills I just hope those that are out early care more for the deer and elk then what they drop!
Good luck and find alot!

Cool horns bud, what did that elk horn weigh. Good Luck this year.

Nice finds. Cool pics of the hills. I think it is a good thing overall to still allow the shed hunting. However, I hope I am wrong, but my gut feeling tells me those who are inclined to take the online course are not and have not been those making problems to begin with. Might just be the pessimest in me, but I think it will be as effective as an online course about littering. Everyone knows when they are doing something stupid whether they took the course or not, just that some people can't help themselves.

Nice write up ung... It is certainly a great privilege to be able to be hunting th northen part of the state again. I hope 1911 is wrong and that those who give the rest of us a bad name will realize that the animal is more important than the horn they're packing, although I'm less than optimistic.

Ung... Nice write up and pics, that moose paddle pic is sweet! Went out yesterday and picked up three horns, nothing exceptional, but one brown four, a year old two, and a spike...
