I'm sure many of you didn't know that one of our fellow sportsmen is nominated for the Field & Stream Hero's of Conservation Award. This individual has worked to promote conservation, ethics, and hunter retention and recruitment tirelessly for longer than I can remember. His Name is Steve Clark (AKA rthrbhntng on Monster Muleys) and many of you have seen and worked with him at the AZGFD department, public meetings, and numerous projects around our state or had him assist you packing your game out in the field. Maybe a child you know was fortunate to attend one of his fine organization's youth programs or hunter workshops to cultivate their interest in the outdoors. The smiles and the attention tell the story and the success is walking amongst us every season in the field.

He has donated thousands of hours of his time on projects benefitting numerous conservation groups and species other than the one that he holds dear the wily Wapiti. Steve has been instrumental in the success of the The Arizona Elk Society in which he was one of many dedicated individuals that gave of themselves to make a difference. We as sportsmen have benefitted from Steve's & the Elk Society's efforts in more ways than you can imagine. If you've hunted deer, antelope, turkeys, sheep or elk in Arizona as a resident or nonresident at some point in time Steve's conservation work had a part in you drawing that tag. Steve's vision and work have grown the resources and enriched the individuals time afield with camera, bow, binocular or firearm. His efforts on the ground have benefitted all wildlife lovers and most importantly the resource itself.

Steve's a humble guy but there's nothing humble about what he's done for all of us, especially the Elk in our state. Please accept my thanks and congratulations on your well deserved recognition. You're nominated with some pretty special folks and we owe all of you a debt of thanks. Sometimes the words THANK YOU aren't big enough, but knowing you, it's more than you ever expected and far less than you deserve.

except my thanks as well
Arizona seems to have its ducks in a row so to speak.
