Supreme Court Gun Rulings

Legal jargon, especially from the mouths of Politicians, leaves me wanting for having a better education. I've read a couple reports today that deal with our gun rights and the 2nd Amendment. Aparently, this discussion is in the hands of the Supreme Court.

Could someone please, in layman terms, explain what's happening there, why, and how it's going? Thanks,
