I was expecting to stay packed in for a week but instead it turned into a 22 hour death hike on the hottest day of the year. 3.5 hours of sleep in the truck, woke up at 2am to start hiking up so I wouldn't miss prime time, spotted him feeding before sunrise a long ways out, bedded him down near some cliffs in the nose bleeds, hiked around the top of the world and got acquainted with lots of goats to get into position above him, shot him at 3pm when the wind shift got him up and alert, he took the short way down the cliffs after a few minutes, back to the truck at 12:15am, after running out of water ?. I'm not going to lie, it was a bit touch and go there for a few hours, getting cliffed out in the dark and getting into thick stuff and running on fumes the whole time... Going to have to take a hiatus from solo backpacking for a few years, until the pain subsides, and the mountains call becomes too strong to ignore once again. I want to share all the amazing pictures and views but don't want to upset the locals.
