Success...Finally

Well boys, after 3 years of trying I finally killed my first elk with a bow. Funny thing is I was trying to call an elk in for my nephew and lo and behold a spike walked within range of my bow.

I didn't have a cam to take field pics but I did remember to grab the pack frame.

I am gonna wait until the rut gets going full swing to take my nephew out and call a big slobbering bull to him.

Hey Hawkk33, congrats on your first elk! Its a heck of a great feeling, I'm glad you got your elk.My hunting partner killed a beautiful 26inch 3x4 muley yesterday and he is jazzed heyond belief!He called me yesterday and told me the whole story, pumped me up!The 15th is just around the corner.....Again congrats on your bull , I hope your nephew gets another crack at em....p.s. next time the camera is part of the essentials lol///

Congats, no better feeling than that first Elk with a bow. Talk about good eating too!!! I didn't have a camera either opening morning and wouldn't you know it I had a 5x5 at 15 yards. He caught me drawing, I told myself oh well I didn't have my camera anyway. Take some pics of the spike rack at home and post up. Good luck to your nephew also.
